Scott C Chapman - A native of Buffalo, NY, Scott is actively designing both Academically and Professionally. Recent Professional Designs include Lighting Design for the 2017 NYC Off-Broadway Premiere and the 2015 World Premiere of Kris Kringle The Musical, Lighting Design for The Hannah Reynold's Story, Hedwig & The Angry Inch, and Sweeney Todd, the World Premiere of Wolfbane's Romeo & Juliet, Evil Dead: The Musical, and The Rocky Horror Show for Wolfbane Productions, Lighting Design for Rent, Little Women, and Oklahoma, and Technical Direction for The King and I and Set and Lighting Design and Technical Direction for Jekyll and Hyde for the Hathaway Brown Theatre Institute; Lighting Design for Tender Napalm for Cleveland Public Theatre, Lighting Design for West Side Story and The Sound of Music for TrueNorth Cultural Arts Center, Design for the Cleveland Premiere of Next Fall at Blank Canvas Theatre; Set and Lighting for Fairmount Performing Arts Center's production of Urinetown, Set Design for FPAC's production of Little Women The Musical, Set and Lighting for the World Premiere of Eric Coble's My Barking Dog for Cleveland Public Theatre, Lighting for Angel Street, Bye Bye Birdie, the North Carolina Premiere of Suite Surrender, Peter Pan, Leading Ladies, The Immigrant, and 8-Track, Sounds of the 70's with BRSC (Blowing Rock Stage Company) in Blowing Rock, NC. He also was Lighting Designer for You're A Good Man Charlie Brown for the Rocket Players Youth Theatre. In addition to designing Scott was the onsite Company Manager for the 2019 Schenectady, NY production of Kris Kringle The Musical

As Resident Scenic and Lighting Designer and Associate Professor of Theatre at Longwood University in Farmville, VA; he recently designed Lighting for You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown, and Sweeney Todd, Set and Lighting for Chicago, The Tempest, Berlin to Broadway, No Exit, Translations, Table Manners, The Cover of Life, Antigone, Musical of Musicals: The Musical!, Twelfth Night, Dead Man's Cell Phone, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Evil Dead: The Musical, A Dream Play, The Love of Three Oranges, and Hedda Gabler, and Scenery for The Dumb Waiter, Lone Star, The Real Inspector Hound, and Blithe Spirit. Scott has also been sharing his design talents as an active member in the Farmville, VA theatre community, designing Lighting for Chess, em>Legally Blonde: The Musical, Beauty and the Beast (Pantomime), Vanya & Sonia & Masha & Spike,Fuddy Meers, Into the Woods,Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, and Rehearsal for Murder at Waterworks Players Community Theatre, where he also directed and designed Lighting for The Mousetrap and And Then There Were None.

Prior to joining the faculty at Longwood University, Scott taught and designed at Ashland University in Ashland, OH; He designed Scenery for Bus Stop, Picasso at the Lapine Agile, Marisol, Of Mice and Men, Urinetown the Musical and Measure for Measure and Set and Lighting for Enchanted April, Whistle Down the Wind, Circle-Mirror Transformation, Sunday in the Park With George, and Equus. Other Designs include Set and Lighting and Technical Direction for Urinetown the Musical and Brighton Beach Memoirs at the University of Wisconsin-Stout; Set Design for the National Amateur and Collegiate Premiere of Curtains The Musical for Iowa Central Community College in Ft. Dodge, IA; Sets and Lighting for The Wager, The Man Who Came to Dinner, and This Is Our Youth, at MDC in Miami , FL.

As an educator, Scott has taught courses in Scenic Design, Drafting for the Theatre, Sound Design, History of Architecture & Decor, Stage Properties, Computer Drafting for the Theatre, Lighting Design, Scenic Painting, Technical Theatre, The Visual Art of Theatre, Stage Management, Theatre Aesthetics, Introduction to Theatre, Theatre Practicum, Theatre Appreciation, and Stagecraft.

Scott received his BA in Theatre Design/Technology from SUNY Buffalo in Buffalo, NY and his MFA in Stage Design from Southern Methodist University in Dallas , TX . He has worked with Directors such as Pierre-Jacques Brault, Dustin Williams, Fred Sternfeld, Bebe Weinberg-Katz, Bob Russell, Kenneth Kay, Michael Wainstein, Gail Garrisan, Stan Wojewodski, Greg Leaming, Henry Woronicz, Gustavo Tambascio, and Lynne Kurdziel-Formato.

Scott is currently designing:

Scenery & Lighting for Tempest, Chicago, and Ken Ludwig's Baskerville at Longwood University.

Lighting for Cabaret, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, and Tempest at Wolfbane Productions in Appomattox, VA.

Scott is directing:

The Mousetrap at Waterworks Players (July 26 - August 3, 2019) in Farmville, VA.
